3RD EDITION MOLESTINA
“The Third Molestina Adventure took us into our neighboring country, Peru. Building on the experiences from the previous two editions, some riders signed up for this extreme journey. Preparations began two months in advance, including a first aid course, testing camping gear, and optimizing motorcycle packing and physical conditioning. All this was aimed at ensuring a successful trip and readiness for any challenges.
Peru presents challenging terrain that demands physical strength and endurance, as the roads wind through rugged mountains. Over time, our group grew closer, becoming a tight-knit team that looked out for each other.
One night, exhausted and hungry, we arrived at a remote village, only to find that a group of indigenous guards prevented us from entering. They claimed we needed special permission. When we sought assistance from the local police, we were informed that the guards were actually a local militia known as the Ronda Campesina, responsible for maintaining order. After lengthy negotiations and a bribe, we were allowed entry but were directed to a hotel they chose and forbidden from leaving, effectively trapping us.
The next morning, our only desire was to leave as quickly as possible. However, at the village exit, we were stopped again by the militia, who demanded our papers and those of the motorcycles, supposedly to verify that they weren’t stolen—an absurd request. Eventually, we managed to leave and continue our journey. In the next village, when asked about our experience in Peru, we described it as unpleasant due to the hostile treatment we received. The locals then informed us that we had erred in visiting that particular village, which was known for informal mining and where people were unfriendly and heavily armed.
Despite the difficulties, these experiences forge our adventurous spirit and enhance our skills and resilience. The group rose to the occasion, and although we were strangers at the beginning, we left as close friends, having shared intense and unforgettable moments throughout the journey.
This is what our trips are all about—immersing ourselves in intense experiences that become valuable lessons.”
