"The inspiration behind creating the Molestina Adventure Experience came from the growing interest in motorcycling in Ecuador. With over 40 years of experience as an adventure motorcyclist, I saw an opportunity to share my knowledge with riders eager to travel but lacking the experience or confidence to do so.
Through countless journeys with dear friends like Gustavo Polo, Juan Monsalve, and other skilled riders from Cuenca, the concept of these motorcycle adventures began to take shape. The focus isn’t just on the act of traveling; it’s about imparting the skills and insights needed for this unique mode of exploration, both within Ecuador and beyond. We also aim to inspire new riders to hone their abilities so they too can embark on their own adventures and achieve their dreams.
Molestina Adventure Experience offers more than just a thrilling ride—it creates unforgettable journeys, forges lifelong bonds between riders, and provides the tools to overcome the challenges inherent in adventure travel. 8TH EDITION MOLESTINA
The eighth edition of the Molestina Adventure Experience was, without a doubt, an unforgettable experience. Despite the challenges we faced, the group proved to be extremely cohesive and tight-knit, which made the time spent together very enjoyable. Although we always aim to add a level of difficulty to our trips, this time the journey turned out to be a bit more challenging than expected, especially due to the bad weather that accompanied us on Saturday, the most intense day. The rain, mud, and cold tested our endurance, but the most important thing was that we all brought out the best in ourselves to overcome the obstacles and enjoy a true adventure. It was an experience that left us with valuable lessons and unforgettable memories!
7TH EDITION MOLESTINA
The seventh edition of the race started in the mountains, crossing the western cordillera and going inland to the coast, crossing varied regions of Ecuador. Each day presented new challenges: rivers, terrain, local food and encounters with the people. As we approached the sea, the landscape changed as we crossed the Chongon Colonche mountain range, feeling the sea breeze. Reaching the sea after such an intense ride was the greatest satisfaction for the bikers.
6TH EDITION MOLESTINA
The sixth outing was to the east of the country, where the jungle presented new challenges due to its geography and changing climate. We added a different activity: rafting on the Jatunyacu River, with the objective of strengthening the emotional union of the group through teamwork. At the beginning, the participants were insecure and fearful, but in the end, they overcame those fears and felt satisfied with the accomplishment. This experience strengthened the trust and friendship among them, which was reflected in the subsequent motorcycle adventure. Everyone ended up happy, satisfied and strengthened in all aspects.
5TH EDITION MOLESTINA
In the Fifth Edition of the Molestina Adventure Experience, we took a different approach by exploring the eastern jungle on a fully paved route. To offer a unique experience, we partnered with a rafting company on the Jatunyacu River. Rafting, which demands teamwork and physical fitness, strengthened group cohesion, building trust and friendship. This unity is essential for motorcycling, making adventures safer and more enjoyable. After the exhilarating river challenge, the group was thrilled and awed by the stunning scenery. The Molestina Adventure fosters travel, friendship, and an adventurous spirit, encouraging participants to embrace new challenges and create unforgettable memories.
4TH EDITION MOLESTINA
The Fourth Edition of the Molestina Adventure took riders through Ecuador’s highlands and coast, offering stunning landscapes and ever-changing altitudes. The group, well-prepared and experienced, embraced the challenges of the journey, which focused on growth and learning. The route, from the mountainous highlands to the central coast, was breathtaking, and the favorable weather enhanced the experience. A highlight was visiting a remote coastal village, where the group donated gently used t-shirts to the impoverished yet kind community. Each adventure, with its unique people and experiences, shapes character and creates unforgettable memories for future journeys.
3rd EDITION MOLESTINA
The Third Molestina Adventure took riders into Peru, requiring two months of preparation, including first aid training and optimizing gear. Peru’s challenging terrain demanded endurance, but it brought the group closer as a team. One night, they were denied entry to a remote village by the Ronda Campesina militia, only gaining access after negotiations and a bribe. Trapped in a hotel, they were harassed again the next day. Later, locals informed them that the village was dangerous due to informal mining. Despite these challenges, the adventure strengthened their resilience, turning strangers into close friends through intense, unforgettable experiences.
2ND EDITION MOLESTINA
The second Molestina adventure ventured north through Ecuador, covering Tumbabiro, Tulcán, and the Chiles Volcano. The scenic yet challenging route, mostly unpaved, tested the riders' adaptability. The journey to Tulcán was smooth, followed by breathtaking views of páramos and lagoons at Chiles Volcano. After crossing west to Maldonado, the group encountered road crews with Colombian plates, raising suspicions about their location. Despite a brief military inspection, they were assured they remained in Ecuador, though the presence of Colombian crews suggested otherwise. The experience was intense, leaving the group satisfied with their adventure in such unfamiliar territory.
1ST EDITION MOLESTINA
The first Molestina adventure took place in the Ecuadorian highlands, navigating both paved and unpaved roads. Starting from Quito, the group encountered cold, rainy conditions that turned the route into a muddy challenge. Despite setbacks, including falls and a group split, the riders reached Pallatanga and continued to Guaranda. Riding at night added extra difficulty, but all safely arrived. These unpredictable conditions tested and shaped the riders, pushing them to surpass their limits. For some, it sparked a passion for adventure, while others realized the challenges of motorcycling weren’t for them.
