QUITO - TENA

An Unforgettable Adventure from Quito
 
Start your exciting journey in Quito, ready to discover Ecuador’s stunning geography. The route will take you through the majestic Inter-Andean Valley, offering spectacular views of Cotopaxi, Rumiñahui, Ilinizas, and other Andean mountains, weather permitting.
 
You’ll pass through picturesque towns like Tambillo, Machachi, Lasso, and Latacunga before reaching Salcedo. From there, you’ll take paved roads towards the Eastern Range, an agricultural region rich in crops like corn, wheat, quinoa, and potatoes.
 
Next, you’ll explore the charming Patate Valley, known for its winding roads and breathtaking landscapes. It’s an ideal spot to sample local cuisine and learn about the area's agriculture. The adventure continues to Baños de Agua Santa, a popular destination for hot springs and extreme sports, perfect for nature and adrenaline lovers.
 
Crossing the Amazon Highway, you’ll visit the majestic Manto de la Novia waterfall and the impressive Pailón del Diablo, accessible after a brief yet challenging hike.
 
Finally, you’ll arrive in Puyo to enjoy a delicious dinner. The day will conclude in Tena, with a stop at Puerto Napo for your first encounter with the Napo River. You’ll stay at Hakuna Matata Lodge, where experts will prepare you for an exciting rafting experience the next day.

Our expert rafting guides will pick you up directly from Hatuna Matata Lodge and take you to the river, one of the most renowned for this sport. After a brief introduction and all the necessary safety instructions, you'll be ready to dive into an exciting adventure through impressive rapids, covering approximately 25 km filled with challenges and unforgettable scenery.

After this incredible experience, we’ll return to the lodge, where you can relax and enjoy its exclusive facilities, recharging your energy in a peaceful natural setting. A day full of excitement and relaxation in one of the most charming destinations!
 

We’ll be staying at the cozy Hatuna Matata Lodge, a true oasis for rest and adventure.

Cultural Immersion and Relaxation at Termas de Papallacta

 

The third day of our adventure takes you deep into the heart of the Amazon. In the morning, we will explore the rich culture of an Amazonian community, participating in authentic activities that will connect you with their traditions. Afterward, we’ll venture into the jungle on exciting hikes that will allow you to discover the incredible biodiversity of this region. 

After lunch, we’ll head towards the stunning mountains of the Guacamayos Range, on our way to the iconic Termas de Papallacta. Here, you can relax in the warm natural pools, surrounded by a spectacular setting that offers a unique experience of rest and wellness. 

To make this day truly unforgettable, we’ll enjoy a special dinner, celebrating the conclusion of the first leg of our tour in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. 

We’ll be staying at the exclusive Lodge Termas de Papallacta, where nature and comfort come together to provide the perfect retreat.

History, Culture, and Nature from Papallacta to Otavalo 

 

Start your day with a delicious breakfast in Papallacta before ascending to La Virgen and descending towards the dry forest of Jerusalén, where you can admire its unique biodiversity. We’ll continue to Malchinguí and the impressive Cochasquí Ruins, a testament to the ancient Quitu-Cara civilization. 

Next, enjoy the famous Bizcochos of Cayambe and stunning views of the majestic Cayambe Volcano. In Zuleta, visit handwoven artisan workshops before crossing the Imbabura Volcano pass, taking in the breathtaking views of Lake San Pablo. 

Finally, we arrive in Otavalo, home to its famous artisanal market. We’ll end the day at the charming Hotel Otavalo or a traditional hacienda. An experience full of history, culture, and unforgettable landscapes!

End the day in the picturesque Intag Valley, staying at Willka Farm Lodge, the perfect place to relax and connect with nature. An experience you won’t want to miss!

Next, we’ll descend to Chontal and the Manduriaco dam, located in the lush cloud forest of the Chocó Andino, one of the most biodiverse regions on the planet. This journey will immerse you in a breathtaking natural environment.

From Pachijal, we’ll head towards Los Bancos and then take a detour to Mindo, a paradise known for its exotic birdlife and rich biodiversity. Next, we’ll head to a butterfly garden, where you’ll be captivated by the beauty and vibrant colors of these fascinating creatures.

The adventure continues with a tour of a cacao plantation, where you’ll learn about the cultivation and production process of some of the finest chocolate in the world. Discover the secrets that make Ecuadorian cacao a global gastronomic treasure.

The afternoon will be free for you to continue exploring at your own pace or simply enjoy the tranquility offered by Sisakuna Mindo Lodge, our accommodation nestled in the heart of nature.
